ReactLab pH is an advanced tool for the analysis of complex potentiometric pH titrations. It allows the determination all equilibrium or formation constants in the underlying mechanism as well as concentrations of the components in the titration solutions.

The law of mass action is based on species activities. Traditional analysis software is based on concentrations for all interacting species. Activities depends mainly on ionic strength, which invariably changes during a titration. In order to keep ionic strength and thus activity coefficients relatively constant, an excess of an inert salt can be added and then relatively well defined apparent equilibrium constants are determined at that ionic strength. ReactLab pH is based on activities, with different options for the estimation of activity coefficients. This avoids the necessity to add inert salt and the analysis results directly in the thermodynamically correct equilibrium constant.

All Jplus ReactLab applications comprise an extremely robust compiled Matlab analysis kernel and intuitive user interface. This communicates with Excel workbooks which are used to hold all data, reactions models and analysis results. The use of Excel provides the user with familiar tools to further process and chart the data and results as well as to share them with other colleagues without the need for the ReactLab program itself.


All analysis results are directly exported into excel workbooks, simplifying the production of annotated publication quality graphs as well as secondary numerical analyses of the immediate titration results.


Titrations can be records of the pH or of the potential reading of the pH electrode.

Electrode calibration can be performed by ReactLab pH.

A unique reaction scheme interpreter allowing simple entry of symbolic reaction mechanisms with support for symbols or full species names.

Supports the analysis of both automated titration measurements and pH/mV readings collected from manually prepared equilibrium samples.

Any number of individual titrations can be analysed globally, this is necessary for complex reaction systems involving several components and many species


Special auxiliary parameters allow mathematical relationships to set up between parameters using excel cell formulas. Auxiliary parameters can also be used to define other relationships and to enable the fitting of other important parameters such as initial reagent concentrations.
